Wicked: Terrible thing by hewhowalksdeath Wicked: Terrible thing by hewhowalksdeath
"Oh, Miss Elphaba, you terrible mean thing, you're pretty!"

(believe it or not, that little green girl is the wicked witch of the west!)

I'm half way of the book, Gregory Maguire's Wicked is indeed a redeeming piece of literature in sense of good and evil. Elphaba is indeed one new face in the world of literary heroines in terms of nature, nature and understanding. (as well as spunk! Elphie has spunk! XD)

I love this part of the book because this is Elphaba's first contact of a total stranger on her own. (as well as the first time she talked as an adolescent in the book)

Glinda U. and Elphaba (c) Gregor Maguire's Wicked.

*fan girl spaz out*
and yes i can belive thats Elphie ;) i've seen wicked and read the book also.
speeking of the book, it really is an interesting book when it comes to good and evil, coz it really explains how evil is more a perseption and idea than it is an actual thing, get me? everyone saw Elphaba as evil because of her skin, and so she started to believe it a little bit.
love this though :D hehe

Evil is made. I believe that, and this book just proves that, as God as my witness; it's the smartest non-horror novel I've ever read.

ture true :D G.Maguire is a fantastic writter, and he really explores the consept of religion and beliefs, and how they effect a persons veiw point and also how they see the world ;P
Wicked is one of my fave novels ever :3 :D :D
have you read the other two?

wow, as a Catholic, I'm touched by his effort.

I hadn't seen the other two books yet. I got mine as a present from a visiting family member.

'son of a witch' and 'a lion amoung men' the're called :D im reading a lion amoung men now, actually :D

you know whats interesting? although i was baptised Catholic, i dont really follow that belief system any more and im more Agnostic now.. but, like you, i still can really apreciate the way that Maguire caters for both Paganistic and Monotheistic religions and the diference between the too.... again i reference perspective and how people veiw the world and eachother, and in Elphaba's case, how it effects people like her to the point of insanity (and death)

great book, great book :D im glad to meet another fan :D

Actually, even if I'm still Catholic, I prefer to be a religious skeptic. Agnostics are more preferable for me since at least they have that sense of humility of this whole big deal whether our loving Father exists or not. For me, God is the Prime Mover, something that started the dominoes of time and space and created every law that science and nature follows. Human Dogmas or "religion" is just the human condition for us to explain the unexplainable, so for me, there is no right or wrong religion, but rather it is to have "faith" alone. So, I find all of this holy wars, these endless debates, those damn fanatic atheists out there with their campaigns, those crazy fanatic religious out there with their uber-devotedness and cursing at those who have different faiths, though I respect their choices, is pretty useless and it brings more damage than solution.

Just cherish what you got, love your life and God had given to you and be in good terms with everyone. "Desiderata"; That's my religion...that and Chuck Norris' Kung-Fu Class.

(P.S. "Once a Catholic, Always a Catholic" ;) )
