Top 25 Psychological thriller/horror

Top 25: Psychological horror/thriller

Okay, first the bad news: As it turns out, those who liked my “Grimm-Twisted” story, I’m sorry to tell you that you won’t be seeing Red and Alice anymore. As it runs out, I lack the brain juice to make a pure goth-fantasy action story. So, I “gave” most of the rights to one deviant, who I believe can do better after reading his works. But, instead, My Character “Red” will be changed to a more villainous role, she will be coming out in my next “slasher” “Red as Blood”. So those who enjoyed my Hunting Grounds stories, this new piece will take on the supernatural slasher genre, so apologies and forgiveness…

Second, I ‘m gonna add these movies in my top 25 slashers. (making it…top something…something slashers…dunno, I just saw these films and loved it!)

26. My Bloody Valentine in 3D- I finally have this film and they’re right! This is way better than Friday the 13th remake! Harry Warden/ Tom Hanniger is one sick killah! Lionsgate never failed to give out the bloody goods!

Originally a remake of the 80s Canadian slasher of the same name, MBV 3D improved it with new 3D techniques as well as fresh new kills that, despite being pick-axe kills mostly, still flows with originality as well as brutality. Definitely worth my time!

27. Slaughter High- Another underrated slasher, this gem in the 80s did packed a weird yet relieving twist ending, but it make up for it with its delicious kills. Marty Rantzen is highly and undoubtedly one poor kid. Those jerks really had it coming! I mean God, one joke is enough, why ruin the kid’s life? So after a few years, Marty come back and the whole blood and guts routine starts.

Now the sad thing is, his kills were in the end, turned up to be just a dream. Marty is in a mental hospital and he just dreamt the whole thing, before he murdered the nurse and a doctor. My opinion? Marty did it. Either that or he’s gonna do it later. Still, I really wish the kills really did happened. It’s justice for the maniac!

28. The Tripper- one of the “8 films to die for” , The Tripper is an exploitation slasher of movies from Wes Craven and Tobe Hooper. It features an axe wielding maniac dressed up as Ronald Reagan (40th president of the US). Yes it ain’t getting weirder than that. The thing is about this movie is that the killer’s atmosphere is very…retro as well as easy! I mean, here you are having all of these drugged hippies, hallucination butterflies and rainbows while most of them wont pay any attention to the kills…HALLELUJAH! I’M IN KILLER HEAVEN! EASY DUCKS IN THE LINE!

But so far, the story gets a bit too slow, but the whole chaos is somewhere in the end.

Seriously, guys, Ronald Reagan?

29. Monkey Shines- I seen this film when I was 6 and it was one of the most disturbing slasher I’d ever seen. I saw this again via VHS and it was during that crisis about my grades and behavior during grade school ( 2nd grade I believe). Because of that, seen this movie was like a guilty pleasure. Monkey Shines was directed by George A. Romero, my patron saint of zombies and it’s one of his underrated movies which was about a experimental helper monkey named Ella, growing extremely attached to her owner, a crippled athlete, to the point that she will kill those who loves him. It’s a mind-bending slasher, with a very few body count but a rich tale which is expected from the man who directed “Martin”, another underrated gem by the zombie director.

30. The House on Sorority Row- This simple slasher is simply basic. SO basic that it became a cult classic and have earned a favorable number of fans. House on Sorority Row tells us the story of a sorority group who plays a prank on their Housemother and accidentally killed her after refusing to let them hold a graduation party. Unluckily for them, someone saw this murder and now kills them one by one.

It kinda sounded like a Jason, yeah I know, but it’s the story and kills that matters in this cult classic (as well as that amazing music by Richard Band). A remake is announced, I’m not really hopping in joy, but at least by then I’ll be old enough to see it if it’s NC-17.

31. The Strangers (2008)- this is perhaps one of the millennium’s most mixed-reacted slashers. Many blames the story’s somewhat slow pace and underdeveloped protagonists, but I gave it a thumbs-up for the creep factor as well as psychological numbing that it did. It’s a cleverly written and directed movie, plus antagonists that are truly planned and well built; in fact, they’re probably the cleverest killers that I’d seen! (no offense Paul, Peter. Jason, hate to admit it, but you’re a numb-skull. Chucky, you’re too destructive, you could learn from your wife. Leatherface… keep trying.)

32. The Prowler (A.K.A. Rosemary’s Killer)- Tom Savini at his best again! Seriously, if I became a director, I’ll put him in charge of my killers! Any who, I can compare this movie to the original My Bloody Valentine, where a “curse” was place on a town to forbid them from holding a specific party, this time, a graduation dance.

The story of this slasher is lavishly simple but took my interest due to the use of a WWII timeline for the killer’s origin. A WWII soldier received a Dear John Letter from his lover, who just fed up with the waiting overseas and moved on with another. Out of rage, he came to her graduation dance and raked them together. Now after35 years, the town is ready to move on as they start another Graduation dance, something that was a taboo after that incident. Tom Savini once again did a great job on the FX, from savage Pitchfork stabbings to messy shotgun kills, yep you name it! It’s Tom Savini at his best!

33. Frontier(S)- Although reminiscent of classics like Texas Chainsaw Massacre and even a hint of “House of One Thousand Corpses”, This French Slasher is truly sick and well detailed. Plus it beat up young thugs which I loathe in real life (they ruined my School year, so I actually feel for no one in this movie.)

After a run from the coppers, 4 thugs escaped captivity by going on the road and stops on a motel run by a family, who is unknown to them plans to overrun the country via “Neo-Nazi” plans…which is virtually impossible in that number. e_e
But everything else leads to some of the most satisfying and creative kills such as death by steam, brutal shot gun blasts, and my all time favorite flesh eating/ tearing.

34. Swimming Pool (Der Tod feiert mit)- those who may seen this movie will know that this is just a simple slasher with a basic story. Well, that’s one point why I like it! Although it brings out nothing new to the genre, it makes it up for brutal and somewhat interesting (if not creative) kills. Most of it is either machete stabs or slicing, but it sure was a tense movie.

35. The People under the Stairs- although not a true slasher, I have to include this since it lacks a proper type as a horror movie. (can’t put it on “comedy horror” since there’s a lot of comedy horror out there that has a second type!)

Directed by Wes Craven, this urban nightmare is a fun and entertaining ride into a claustrophobic house filled with escape tunnels and hidden doors, plus an incestuous landlords who are over-the-top crazy (dancing around a dead body is crazy…I think, I dunno, I hadn’t done that for a while…;)

So came in our hero, “Fool” which is probably one of the youngest brothers out there to take on two crazies (next to Reggie in Friday the 13th part 5). This is perhaps one cult favorite, seeing that many viewers found this movie to be quite enjoyable despite the lack of body count. It kinda reminded me too of the original texas Chainsaw, where gore and off-screen kills were minimized but make it up for a tense story.

36. Last House on the Left (remake)- although watered down from the original, this remake is probably one of the good remakes so far that I’d seen. When it comes to rape and revenge flicks, I like it when the victim survives and none of the suspects. Like my other listed movie, “I Spit At Your Grave”, “Last Left” gave other the top gore and more gritting “ punishments” than the original (which are castration, gunshot and…chainsaw kill…yawn*). The remake did more violence, which makes me so proud to be one of the few lucky Filipinos to see this movie before our ratings cut some of it’s best bits (like the first baddie kills, aww man, that was pure torture!

37. Scream (franchise)- now, I just bought this movie (two actually… ) and after seeing the first entry, It’s friggin’ tight! Clever and indeed witty, this “giallo-esque” slasher is a complete modernized blend of slasher’s great grand pappy, the yellow genre Giallo. This film is totally made for me since I could relate and answer questions from the movies being cited in it! Also, it cited almost every movie I saw! Including non-slashers !

38. To Sir, With Love- AKA My Teacher as it was called in my country, To Sir is not a remake of an old American movie, or based on a song. “To Sir” is a Korean horror which is actually pretty amazing to me since when it comes to Asian horror, what first came to my mind are ghost movies (even their creepy trailer made me think it was a ghost movie [link] , be warned, trailer’s nightmarish… )

SO instead we got a creepy slasher featuring a class reunion, a wheelchair-bound teacher, and at least 6 classmates with a grudge to make them perfect suspects…or at least one…

And then, the somewhat creepy part, a killer…donning a paper/cardboard rabbit mask… killing people with “kiddie” art tools such as staplers, drawing compasses and even sticker tape…

Indeed a creepy slasher and definitely worth your time!

39. Wolf Creek- This controversial Aussie flick delivers a low body count but high tensions. Wolf Creek is a frightening film about three backpackers lost in the desert outbacks, now hunted down by a crocodile dundee maniac. The realism of this movie is what gave it notoriety, handing out a rather true to life based horror, carved specially for our viewing pleasures.

Although, like I said, lacking body count or a rather spectacular kill (mostly are gunshot kills) the action and the shocks blessed the movie a gift of good viewing for horror fans...(non-horror fans are not allowed...nobody speaks ill, if yew don't know how to appreciate good filming!)

40. American Psycho- Only the first movie because that sequel killed off Patrick Bateman, who is an iconic killer. hey hey! why won't they stick up a hot steaming metal rod up my ass while they're at it?

anyways, I see this rather interesting flick to be in the same atmosphere of "Psycho" or "Maniac", in which rather than the stalk and kill we see the life of the killer and how he slowly descend to it. With a large number of body count (applied, but not shown), I'd say Patrick Bateman is one sick psycho, but hey, least he does it with slick and style~

Now, for the top 25 Psychological horror/thriller list.

25. Right at Your door- I saw this 2006 thriller by accident thinking it was a zombie movie due to the cover, but I was surprised to find out it was a drama-thriller about dirty bombs being detonated in Los Angeles. For quite a while, it’s a building story and indeed a work of pure effort and cinematography.

24. Phone Booth- A morality thriller that really packed a gun powder or two. Seriously, this is perhaps one of the best psychological thriller I’d ever saw! As the story develops, a man held captive inside a phone booth by an unseen sniper which he also is talking on the phone. As time passes, the unseen sniper/caller torments the man into revealing his hidden cheating secret.

Character build is good, as well as the fear it effectively surrounds itself, Phone Booth is definitely worth watching!.

23.Maximum Overdrive- Stephen King’s directorial debut and what he considered his worst film ever. I disagree! This campy and somewhat weird take on his short story “Trucks” went a step further by infecting all machines and making them sentient. The story and plot is good but what makes him hate this film is that it’s too campy and the mistakes are almost everywhere! (Truck explodes before hitting the ground to be more précised), as well as the incidents in making the movie.

But the theme of sentient machines enlighten me, since I love cars and the fact this is directed by my number one author Stephen King earned its rights on my list.

And another thing: They should really keep that head exploding scene during the roadroller act. That would be priceless! (George Romero, you pussy! XP) [link]

22. Lady in the water- technically, this is not a horror. It’s an adult fabled much like Pan’s Labyrinth, so those who cannot see this film’s beauty, SHUT UP! Go rant on The Happening! Yeah, Night really deserved that rant!

Originally a bed time story for his kids, Night Shyamalan had the horrible mistake to aim this movie to adult audiences, I have to admit, but as a fairytale, it’s really worth watching. Unlike his other films (save The Sixth Sense), the story actually teaches us martyrdom that can be achieved even by common folks like us. So many of you horror fans might throw an egg or two at me for putting this film, but it matches my taste. (and let me remind you, this is a list of psychological horror AND Thriller)

21. Obssessed- This newly released film by Screen Gems Pictures tells the story of an insane temporary worker in a big company eying on the executive vice president, whom is happily married and living a perfect life. Well, I just jinxed the poor man when I say “;perfect ”. Later, Derek, the vice president of the company, consoles the new worker and jokingly hits on her. Lisa, the unhinged new worker, took this seriously and starts to seduce him to the point of being violent in nature. So far, since this is a new movie, I won’t reveal much to those who hadn’t seen this yet. But it’s a really good piece of film making, I highly recommend it to psychological nutties out there!

20. Teeth- this surprisingly uncensored (well, it wouldn’t be a “sex urban legend”-based film if it’s censored, right?) is called “the most talked about film in the Sundance Film Festival on 2007” and I can see why not! This original and horrifically funny piece of moral fiction tells us the life of a “too” innocent girl who happens to have a…”teeth” under there…(way down, but not too low, just between the middle… )

The story circulates around the legend of “Vagina Dentata”, an old saying warning men who uses their thang too much that one day they might encounter a woman who has “teeth” inside her vagina. How the lead heroine got this isn’t fully explained but the story is very dark, tragic as well as comic. Oh, for those squeamish lil’ sissies, the penis get stumped…really…

19. The Sixth Sense- speaking of the Lady in the Water, this is definitely Night’s best work to date (after that horrible downfall in “The Happening”, I’m ready to believe in this movie again… )

This beautiful movie is full of effort and really proves that the first may also be considered the best. It’s moving, touching, gripping, horrific, terrifying, sad rolled into one! Best ghost story there is (plus that twist ending really gave it a sad yet satisfying end).

18. Necronomicon- A somewhat “disgusting commercialization” of Lovecraft’s work is indeed a weird piece of film, yet this is also a rare movie in my country and as a lone Lovecraftian pupil (that’s what I call people who somewhat understands and love the great writer’s work. Me, having two of his books, made at least 4 tomes based on his work, is considered one)

The film is an anthology of three stories based on the works by Lovecraft: the first is based on “The Rats on the Walls”, which is about a voyager’s cursed tome being his descendant’s only hope of reviving his late girlfriend, but of what cost? The second, (which partially is more closer to the Lovecraft’s written work entitled “Cool Air” ), is about a girl who met a man that needs to be cool all the time or else the heat will literally melt him. But in order to maintain his state, he needs a special fluid in the human anatomy and he is willing to get it, no matter what. Lastly, which is also the most disappointing entry of this movie, is loosely based on “The Whisperer in Darkness”. When I heard this entry was based on that story, I was overwhelmed since if features the Mi-Gos, my favorite Lovecraft creature. In the end, the story was completely an overturned cake version, leaving no similarity save the brain transporting.

So far, it’s a good movie, but it really need to stick with the lovecraft –themes rather than exploiting it with blood.

17. Carrie (franchise)- Stephen King’s first full work (not under his pen name “Richard Bachman”, of course) in all of its vengeful glory. The titular anti-hero is the center of this simple yet moving story, an outcast who learns that she has powers and now has to deal with it along with her teen-life problems. Horror fanatic knew that the whole infamy starts at the near end, when her powers went snafu and murdered hundreds of annoying teens! Though Carrie did have a sad fate, the legacy didn’t end there.

The sequel is somewhat only related to this movie through one survivor of the previous massacre, the rest is an independent plot of another psychic girl. I loved this movie slightly better than the original because she was more violent and torturous than Carrie. Sadly though, this is more of a supernatural movie than a psychological one like the prior.

16. Cape Fear (1991)- A much more gripping version of the original black and white film, Cape Fear is one of the most outstanding performances in cinematic fear. Robert De Niro did a fine job on his character Max Cady, almost more unhinged yet cooler than the prior actor who did the terrifying creeper. The story revolves around Sam Bowen, a public Defender being stalked around by Max Cady, one of his former clients which he failed to defend against court. Now Sam’s paranoia as well as Max’s silent intent to take revenge went on full adrenaline as things go topsy-turvy. Soon, the two meet face to face in a fight to survive and save Sam’s family from Max’s vengeful yet brilliant plan.

The movie was nominated for best actor and best actress, for the fine acting career of dear Robert as well as Juliette Lewis who played Sam’s daughter Danille. Neither won it, but all that matters is that they made a fine remake of one crime and suspense classic.

15. Joy Ride (franchise)- Rusty Nail. First as a disembodied voice in a CB radio then to a torturous trucker. He’s a real badass I tell you!

This 2001 thriller film is a step further to high octane road horror since The Hitcher, featuring a more sadistic villain cleverly hidden via CB radio and packs a mean punch or mental as well as psychical torment! The first film featured him stalking two boys who played a prank on him on his CB radio, making them pay for it in a more elaborate and sinister way. The sequel came in this 2008 entitled “Joy Ride2: Dead Ahead” and it featured the bad mothertrucker with more free actions as he dons the torments first hand as well as hidden. I kinda consider this sequel a little better than the original but it sort of strained away from the clever plot of having a villain unseen and unknown in identity, but rather went to a sort of mixture of slasher and psychological genres. Rusty Nail became something that is merely a villain that follows his urge to kill or torture.

Still, nice to have s villains like Rusty to keep the adrenaline pumpin’!

14. Perfume: The story of a murderer- a boy born with a great sense of smell, found love in the scent of women, yet obsessed on preserving the smell. This drama/horror is set in 18th century France, and revolves around a scent-gifted boy named Grenouille and his quest to create the perfect scent by mixing the scent of 13 women. But in order to get their scent, he must murder them to accomplish his greatest work.

His deeds nearly broke the city into fear and escalated ever further when he murdered the final girl, the daughter of a wealthy man.

So far, the movie failed to impress American audiences, only to be released in selected theatres, but the movie became a favorable movie in Europe despite having an anti-hero who almost didn’t showed any expression, making it kinda difficult to fell sympathetic on the man.

The movie is based on a book, with slightly small changes; Perfume is perhaps one of the more clever thrillers out there, underrated by reviews and lack of full audiences.

13. Silent of the Lambs- Though Red Dragon was fine; “Silence” is just remarkable. With outstanding acting and cleverly rich story and suspense, Silence earned the awards it got (5 of them: Best Director, Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Screenplay and Best Picture) as well as the only horror movie to won one.

It’s about a mad serial killer who hunts down overweight girls in order to skin them for personal purposes, an elite FBI trainee was sent to solve this mystery, and their only heading is a cannibalistic genius: Hannibal Lecter, who’s intellect might come in useful to pursuit the killer known as “Buffalo Bill”

It’s gripping, step by step enhancement of a crime thriller and Hannibal is just plain genius. He’s one of the most rich character ever made since Patrick Bateman.
12. Opera- Dario Argento’s finest theme, the Italian Giallo at its best! Mostly nearly all giallo taps the psychological theme and Dario Argento knows how to deliver it. This is one of his fine works, and quiet rarely seen due to it being released in an era where giallo is almost a dying genre.

It concerns a young opera singer who is hunted and caught by a madman, taping pins on her eyelids and forced to watch her loved ones killed, it’s one of the finest giallo there is since Blood and Black Lace, clearly Dario is struggling to maintain the existence of his most profitable genre. Sadly, I have to admit that this is perhaps one of his better works than the ones that came in this millennium. Somehow, the millennium entries make it up with their dashing soundtrack. (the Card Player was more of just a crime story than a giallo… )

11. Disturbia- although I clearly don’t see any horrors in this film, it sure was a fun movie! It’s an innocent film, toning down the blood and concentrates more on the life of the hero as he struggles to save his friends and family from a new maniacal neighbor who murders young girls…or is he?

It’s one of the most clever and fun thrillers I’d seen since that dark comedy “Weekends at Bernie’s”. Shia did a terrific acting in this one! He definitely

10. P2- Though not favorable by many critics (screw them!) P2 is indeed a good psychological journey of survival and terror. Though the kills are indeed savage, not much killings are implied and kinda gave me a bit of disappointment. But otherwise, it sure was a good movie.

9. Profondo Rosso – again, one of Dario Argento’s finest is in my list. And this is what fans will call his BEST giallo ever! Profondo Rosso (Deep Red) is Argento’s full effort and perhaps his finest film. It has all the giallo themes and aspects, and it never failed to give the gore! It has the most brutal and somewhat tense death scenes which include the killer’s own disturbing end.

Another thing that made this movie special because one event is significant in a kill. It a specific scene foreshadows something that will be either nasty or stomach churning for the viewers. Indeed, Dario deserved his titles as “Master of Horror”.

8. Phenomena- and yet another entry by Argento! This actually acted more of a slasher but since there’s a bit of a build up and the body count is that high at all, it’s actually more of a giallo.

Now what makes this movie quite interesting is Argento’s touch on the sci-fi aspects of telepathy. I like the idea of insects helping our heroine, but what was more disturbing is the soundtrack…and the monster kid. Yes, a shrimpy monster kid donning a javelin.

7. While she was out- this small film, directly sent to our living rooms via video, is one hell of a feminist movie; since I ain’t no sexist, so f*cking what? So long as them revenge flicks shows the “ protagonists” winning, so f*cking what? XD

Okay, anywho, while taking the “rape” out of the rape and revenge flicks that I enjoy, “While she was out” stays on the character development more than the stalk and kill sequences featured in a slasher and let’s face it, this is also a survival movie: both villains and the heroine are either staying away from each other or hunting each other down.

Not many movies show a woman doing the kills, heck even Angela from Sleep Away Camp was almost fabulous…until she revealed a dick…

6. Stuck- Indeed, fact can be scarier than fiction, and Re-animator’s Stuart Gordon gave us a big toast for that. Stuck was based on a real life news about a nurse, who instead of bringing an injured bum, which she accidentally hit, to a nearby clinic, she let him be, “stuck” like a bug THROUGH a windshield. Yep, reality can be the weirdest.

Since the movie was based on real events, Stuart did a pretty good job making this an original film without straying too far from the realism, as well as pitching in a few “fantasy” moments (such as the odds of having yer fractured bone be licked by a dog…or kill a brothah with all of them injuries.)

Dropping in before the top 5 is this creepy dark comic brought you by the fat man who, in real life, afraid of blood.

5. In the Mouth of madness- John Carpenter is one of my favorite masters of horror. Not only that, he also gave his fans colorful action flicks such as Big Trouble in Little China (which is one of my favorite action flicks) as well as well built sci-fi movies, like the famous slimefest alien movie “The Thing”

Now, John made his own trilogy as Dario with his “Mother” trilogy (made up of Suspiria, Inferno and La Terza Madre). In John’s apocalypse Trilogy, his last entry is a lovecraftian horror: In the Mouth of Madness. In this end-of-the-world mayhem, a provate investigator tackles a case about a missing writer, who’s works seems to affect the readers in a “violent” way, such as crazed cult attacks, riots and even murder. Soon, he discovers a rather disturbing and effectively creepy fact, that the writer has been given the gift to be “God” by the Old Ones (a take on Lovecraft’s pantheon of chaotic gods, the Great Old Ones).

It’s deeply scary, at the terms that it sort to touches you, since you may had a few relating experiences (especially if you love horror books), plus the fact that a dark force, mutating people into monsters is slowly eating our world is indeed a force to be reckoned with.
But, then again, critics butchered this fine film with “ratings” (to hell with them… ), a strong cult following still supports this rather fine Carpenter movie.

4. Misery- now, another S.K. adaptation and one of the closest to the book. Misery revolves around Paul Sheldon, a writer staying on a cabin that unwittingly drove off to a storm. He got totaled as his car swipes off the road and crashes to some trees. Luckily: he was saved by a local nurse. Unluckily: she’s a loon and she’s completely isolated. Now no one can hear him scream…

Moving, powerful, I’m speechless of the movie’s near truthful adaptation to one of my favorite S.K. books. Although, I really wished the lawnmower scene stayed. But what won this film fourth place on my list is the villainess Annie Wilkes, played by Kathy Bates who did a spectacular performance. From kindness to rage, Bate’s portrayal of one of fiction’s most notorious nurse is indeed mind scarring…especially her first “rage”

3. Tenebrae- sex, blood and mystery. Who can dare hate a good giallo? Surpassing Deep Red in this list is Tenebrae, Dario’s classic 80s murder thriller fueled by blood gushing gore and intriguing sexual theme that was surprisingly important to the film’s plot.

Inspired by a fan-based terror-experience, Tenebrae is about a writer, who is now linked to murders in a Roman town thanks to one fan who was “inspired” to kill. As the killer dons the giallo gloves and knife, the writer also falls into madness and joins in…

Goblin did a fine score to the movie, as well as Dario’s unmatched camera work and rich story that is rarely dull or left you going to toilets because nothing important is going on. Rather, everything is linked and soon, a good fight for survival ensues…

2. Hard Candy- a finely dark tale and a moral horror for the adult and alike; Hard candy is a indie horror from 2006. I read about the movie in a fangoria mag, and it took me quite a while but I found the movie in youtube, moments before they tore it down. Disturbing yet entertaining, a fight between two characters, a 14 yr old girl and a sexual predator dons it out in a mind-captive horror which is Hard Candy.

The girl finds a man who’s involved in a kidnapping-rape; as she tortures and interrogates the man, he simply dismisses the accusations until she finally cracked him. It’s a hard story to watch since it’s harder to choose sides. A lowly man who’s actually a criminal? Or a sweet young lass who’s capable of kills.

What if your target is not who they seem to be?...what if she’s something else?...

1.Lastly, number one, my whole time faved psycho film is: FUNNY GAMES

Exteriror, sunny day. Perfect for boating, golfing or just plain relaxing on your own backyard. Exactly the plan of a well-do family. But a kind smile from two young men is not a warm welcome. Soon, the family made up of a father, mother, their son and dog are fallen into a series of mental and physical torture…all for the sake of fun and OUR entertainment.

William Haneke creates a rather symbolic horror movie that teaches US the portrayal of violence and opens our eyes to a rather sad truth of realism of violence. Paul is an interesting character; not only is he experienced, but he also broke the fourth wall. Yes, he KNOWS that WE’RE watching. And he’s doing us a favor by tormenting an innocent family, because he knows that’s what we came for…but he also knows we wanted the family to win… so…it ain’t gonna happen.... cuz he’s willing to break every rules in the book just for our ENTERTAINMENT…

If you wanna experience it or just find out what I’m saying…find the movie…and if you do…say hi to Paul and Peter for me, I miss them rascals~
